Position Description

Seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer for a full-time position with benefits. This can be a REMOTE position. Shift Hours are M-F 7 am - 4:30 PM EST. The individual must have utility Protection & Control Testing experience.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Responsible for the coordination of all Apparatus and Relay Testing Activities, Functional Test Activities and Documentation of As-Left/As-Built Station Status (Station Prints and As-Left Relay Settings)
* Development of On-Site equipment / Relay Work Orders, Isolation (Cut-Over) Plans, Functional Test Plans, Document Control, CIP Equipment Lists, Bar-Coding, Final Document Uploads (Project Wise),Completion of Project Binder, Equipment Energization lists, Equipment Energization Notifications, and Unintended Incident notification
* Serve as a safety net to ensure that any errors introduced by incorrectly engineer design packages or installations are identified and corrected prior to compromising the safety of employees and/or reliability of the T&D System
* Perform installation, commissioning, testing and maintenance of protective relaying equipment, relaying schemes, DFR equipment, SCADA systems, distribution automation systems and associated communication equipment
* Perform function testing of substation control circuits on relay panel, transformers & circuit breaker change-outs
* Perform end-to-end relay testing using Doble ProTesT/ Protection Suite software to verify carrier and fiber systems
* Assist in developing written standard commissioning, testing and maintenance procedures for protective relaying, DFR's, RTU's, IED's, Distribution Automation and associated communication systems
* Manage projects onsite throughout the duration and effectively interface and own the relationship with customers and their vendors
* Adhere to general OSHA/ NERC/ FERC and site specific safety requirements
* Utilize Human Performance Techniques
* Protection scheme tests/ program relay settings
* Functional check of AC and DC elementary drawings
* Functional check of Instrument Transformers
* Verify and test current/ voltage transformers circuits
* Verify metering and relay calibration
* Verify charger and batter systems, station services, and transfer switches
* Wire-check point to point
* Verify/ test communication schemes POTT, DCB, PUTT (Power Line Carrier, OPGW, Fiber, Multiplexer, IRIG)
* Verify RTU/ SCADA programming and configuration
* Configure and test Digital Fault Recorders
* Plan and schedule test procedures

Primary Skills Required

* Relay Test Software - Enoserve (RTS) and Doble Protection Suite * Relay Communication Software – SEL Compass, AcSELerator Quickset (SEL 5030), GE (Enervista Launchpad), RFL (GARD PRO), and other common industry software * Knowledge and practice of safety precautions related to working with electrical and electronic equipment. * Demonstrated ability in communicating technical information to non-technical personnel, educating customers, and presenting information to internal and external customers * Working knowledge of all software packages relevant to successful performance of tasks. * Testing of relays using Protection Suite, EnoServ RTS, and custom test plans * End-to-end testing

Work Experience Required

* Minimum 7 years of experience * Possess and Maintain a valid and unrestricted driver’s license * Demonstrated experience in substation field engineering services and technical support for the construction, testing, and commissioning of substation equipment up to and including 500kV to include Protective Relays, Relay Panels, AC/DC Panels, Battery Systems, Breakers, Transformers, SSVTs,CCVTs, PTs, CTs, Linear Couples, etc. including the development of isolation plans and procedures

Work Experience Preferred

* 10+ years of experience evaluating and servicing electrical distribution or control systems is desirable. Experience in testing, troubleshooting, evaluating, and servicing electrical distribution and control systems is highly desirable. * Protection and Control experience with transmission and distribution equipment * 5+ years of experience in protective relay testing. * RTU’s: GE D20/400, RTU/IED Communications – 4 wire data and 2 wire RS 485/RS 232, RTAC, Cooper SMP 16 * Experience with IEDs: SEL 2032, SEL 421, 311A, 311B, 311C, 311L, 734, Bitronics, ION 7350, Qualitrol TTL 1000 * Experience with test sets and software: CMC 356, Doble 6150, ASE 2000 Test Kit, Arbiter, Protest, RTS, Megger MPRT, CPC=-100 & EZ CT 2000 * Experience with relays: Schweitzer SEL 421, 311A, 311B, 311C, & 311L, ABB DPU 2000R, HU, CA16, KD & LCBII, GE PVD, BDD, STD, CEY, L90, D60, B90, Areva
