Position Description
Seeking a motivated Packaging Engineer to support our plant. We need someone willing to be hands-on in order to improve steering and suspension packaging specifications and data. This person would be responsible for product, inbound and outbound packaging for the line ensuring damage free product, compliance to customer needs and cost effectiveness for the business.
Responsibilities:
* Physically review inbound product and transportation packaging to determine if specification changes are necessary.
* Create and/or support inbound packaging specifications for suppliers to enable cube utilization, product protection and efficient warehouse receiving and put-away.
* Update the system to reflect the correct specifications for supplier compliance and plant operations efficiencies.
* Review opportunities for packaging material cost savings.
* Create outbound transportation specifications for 3PL to ensure shipments arrive damage free at most efficient cost possible.
* Support any project needs related to the packaging for the product line.
Primary Skills Required
* Proficient in Microsoft office applications
* Strong communication skills
* Ability to work on-site in warehouse setting
Primary Skills Preferred
* SAP experience
Education Required
* BS in Packaging, Industrial Engineering or a related field OR relevant work experience
Education Preferred
