Position Description

Seeking Electrical Engineer (Test Engineer) responsible for investigative testing activities in a laboratory environment in order to root-cause issues observed in internal development testing, customer testing and end-user warranty. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable about power electronic investigative techniques, keep abreast of new & emerging technologies, be skilled in efficient, structured problem solving and have excellent communication skills. The primary role of this position will be to assist in problem solving activities with eMobility products (High Voltage Power Distribution, others) through a systematic, collaborative approach.

Responsibilities:
* Lead problem solving activities using a disciplined problem-solving approach across various areas (electrical, mechanical, systems).
* Track and report status of problem-solving activities. Present findings and actions to internal and external customers. (Co-located, nationally & internationally)
* Capture technical knowledge and track process improvements.
* Continuously improve failure analysis capabilities for the organization through improved testing processes, test equipment and test methods. (FMEA, simulations, modeling included)
* Lead projects to install test equipment or modify equipment for new products and needs.
* Coordinate test equipment maintenance and calibrations with facility.
* Stay current with the latest test equipment, methodologies and improve facilities through capital planning and execution.
* Direct lab technician activities for test setup, execution and reporting.
* Maintain a collaborative working relationship with various internal groups (systems, electrical & software engineering, manufacturing, supplier development & quality) and external groups (customers, suppliers, etc).
* Record any measurable statistics which your position impacts such as production expenses, maintenance expenses, sales volumes, payroll costs, capital expenditures, research budgets, cost of purchases, value of inventories controlled, employees supervised (direct and indirect).

This role will be a part of the expanding eMobility business within Vehicle Group.

Primary Skills Preferred

Education Required

* Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical field required from an accredited institution required.

Work Experience Required

* Minimum of 3 years’ experience in automotive, commercial vehicle and/or power electronic fields. * Problem solving skills: Shainin Red X, 8D, 5-whys, PDCA, Fishbone, FRACAS,etc.

Work Experience Preferred

* 5+ years of experience * Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent * Experience with vehicle electronic systems a plus * iTest/CANape/LabVIEW data acquisition and controls experience a plus * Experience with CAD tools and behavioral simulation a plus (SPICE, Simplis, Ansys, Matlab, Simulink) * PCBA and final product testing/end of test (DV,PV) a plus. * Experience with PLM systems a plus (ENOVIA, MatrixOne,etc)
